‘City of angels’ – one of the most beautiful movies about love

Is there the biggest love, when the man (an angel) rejects immortality for mortal woman?

“City of angels” is one of my the most favourite movies ever. Beautiful romantic story. It has an amazing atmosphere. Besides I love a lot Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan. Great couple of actors in one movie. It’s just delightful.

Sarah McLaughlin – In the arms of the Angel – lyrics

Spend all your time waiting for that second chance
For the break that will make it ok
There’s always some reason to feel not good enough
And it’s hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction oh beautiful release
Memories seep from my veins
They may be empty and weightless and maybe
I’ll find some peace tonight

In the arms of an Angel fly away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
You’re in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here

So tired of the straight line, and everywhere you turn
There’s vultures and thieves at your back
The storm keeps on twisting, you keep on building the lies
That you make up for all that you lack
It don’t make no difference, escaping one last time
It’s easier to believe
In this sweet madness, oh this glorious sadness
That brings me to my knees

In the arms of an Angel far away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
In the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here

You’re in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here

  1. I haven’t yet seen City of Angels, but I might just have to give it a try!
    🙂

  2. I totally agree. Beautiful lyrics.

  3. Love the movie…. Sarah voice got the magic…. 🙂

  4. That movie was one of the most powerful movies I have ever seen..been years since I seen it. It is truly a must see.

    Deb xx

  5. Oh my … 🙂

  6. Guess What?
I haven’t seen this one either
but I can see that you and lots
of others like it… If only it had
some Vampires in it Sabina 🙂

    Have a wicked Monday now

    • Ther are not vampires in it, Andro 🙂 but angels, and death. Nicolas Cage is an angel, who is taking souls from this world to the next.
The movie is really worth seeing. Besides, as I know, you like also romantic stories, not only horrors 🙂

Have a great Monday, and all week 🙂

      • You know what Sabina, you have convinced me and so I will take a closer look at this film, I should be able to get it very cheaply now as it has been out for quite a while I think? I will let you know what I think of it when I get chance of finding and watching that one 🙂 Have you ever seen that film called ‘Heaven Can Wait’ it is a sort of comedy but also rather romantic too, especially near the end… It stars Warren Beatty and James Mason so it is a rather old film, but a worthy one also 🙂

Of course my favourite films are ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles’, ‘The Hitcher’, ‘Van Helsing’ and ‘The Big Lebowski’ but that is only a very small selection as I like lots of films, don’t forget to watch that ‘Dracula’ with your wicked Keanu Reeves in it, now that is a very good film to watch…

Yes I am wittering on a bit now my wickedly great friend and so I will return to My Gothic Realm, besides that pesky Uncle Onslo will be chasing all the Naughty Nymphs around by now and he hasn’t even started polishing those lids yet 🙂 lol

Have A Funtastic Tuesday Now Sabina 🙂

        • I checked. It was made in 1998.
I saw “Heaven can wait”. I like it 🙂 But “City of Angels” is better 😉 Try to watch it. It’s really worth seeing.

I heard about “The Hitcher”, and I like Sean Bean, so maybe I should see it. I heard also about “Big Lebowsky”. I know “Van Helsing” and I like it. I am also watching always series about vampires in tv. I like them 🙂 I’ll try to download “Dracula” with Keanu.

Have a fantastic Tuesday too Andro 🙂

  7. Not sure if I have seen this one (old age and short memory), but with a wife and two daughters, I’m sure that I have. Meg Ryan seems to fit perfectly in most of her movies and she’s as cute as a button. Nicholas Cage on the other hand has to have a movie fit him or to me he’s really not that good. Great song though! Thanks

    • Thank you for comment 🙂 I’m almost sure, that your wife saw it, and probably doughters also.
I can’t agree about Nicolas Cage. I saw him in different movies, and everywhere he was really good. At least for me. I remember him as man with one hand. It was probably “Moonlighting”. With Cher. I like him since I saw him in that movie.

  8. I’ll show you my age, the first movie that I remember him in was called Valley Girls (1983). He was young and had hair… but then so did I! LOL

  9. I also love this Movie and so cried.. and the music is beautiful.. and heartfelt.. thank you for sharing the lyrics with us.. We often overlook the Music and lyrics when played on a Movie..
